Walleye Action on the Columbia River

Walleye Action on the Columbia River

By Mack's Lure Staff

There's nothing quite like chasing walleye on the Columbia River in the middle of summer, and this trip had all the ingredients for a great day on the water. Rob and Hilary Holman from Northwest Fishing Show were joined by Jaime "J Rod Angling" Rodriguez, his daughter Haley Rodriguez, and angler Bobby Loomis for a fun-filled day targeting Columbia River walleye.

With the summer sun beating down, the crew hit the water ready to put some fish in the boat. Their go-to setups featured customized Mack's Lure crawler harnesses, and the Copper Smile Blades quickly became one of the day's standout producers. Mixing in several other blade colors helped the team stay on fish as conditions changed throughout the day, proving once again that having a variety of colors can make all the difference.

One of the best parts of the trip was listening to J Rod share some of the guide knowledge he's gained over years of chasing Columbia River walleye. From dialing in trolling speeds to explaining why certain blade colors worked better in different areas, he offered plenty of useful tips while keeping things relaxed and enjoyable for everyone on board.

It was also a special day for J Rod and his daughter, Haley, who spent time fishing side by side and making memories together. Those moments are what fishing is really all about sharing the experience with family and friends while enjoying a beautiful day on the water.

With Bobby Loomis adding his years of experience and the Holmans capturing all the action, the boat was full of good conversation, plenty of laughs, and steady walleye action throughout the day.

The customized Mack's Lure harnesses paired with Smile Blades and several other productive color combinations kept rods bending, even during the hottest part of the afternoon. The combination of proven tackle, local knowledge, and teamwork made for a successful day from start to finish.

This trip is just a preview of what's coming soon on an upcoming episode of Northwest Fishing Show. Viewers will get an inside look at the Columbia River adventure, pick up valuable walleye tips from J Rod, and see exactly how the team put together a successful day using customized Mack's Lure harnesses.

If you love summer walleye fishing, you won't want to miss this one. It's packed with great fishing, helpful information, and the kind of camaraderie that makes every day on the Columbia River one to remember.
