A Fun Day of Fishing and Fellowship Jim Davis

Irrigon, Oregon, was the perfect setting for the 6th Annual Walleye Kayak Social, a much-anticipated event that took place on November 23, 2024. The event brought together kayak anglers from across the Pacific Northwest for a day of fishing, fellowship, and fun. At the heart of this unique gathering was Mack’s Lure Pro Staff, Jim Davis, a seasoned angler and outdoors enthusiast, who hosted the event, which was sponsored by Mack's Lure.

Bringing a Community of Anglers Together

The Walleye Kayak Social is all about connection. It’s an opportunity for kayak anglers—both seasoned pros and first-time participants—to share stories, exchange tips, and build lasting friendships.

The event’s focus was on walleye fishing from kayaks - a way of fishing that is rapidly growing in popularity, attracting anglers who appreciate the accessibility, low environmental impact, and added challenge of fishing from a smaller, more maneuverable craft.

During the Walleye Kayak Social the Mack's Lure Sonic BaitFish was the highlight lure of the day, catching the majority of the walleyes for this event.

A Day of Fellowship

Beyond fishing, the Walleye Kayak Social is a celebration of the kayak fishing community. Jim Davis emphasized the importance of building connections and fostering a sense of belonging in the sport.

“Fishing brings people together,” Davis said. “The kayak community is huge, it's a giant brotherhood. A family.”

The social aspect of the event was just as important as the fishing itself. The friendly competition, casual conversations, and shared enthusiasm made for an enjoyable day on the water. Participants were not only able to reel in walleye but also exchange valuable insights, making new friendships along the way.

The two people who won gift certificates to the Mack's Tackle Shop were Nick Wetterland and Thorn Prom.

Looking Ahead to Future Events

As the 2024 event wrapped up, anglers were already looking forward to the next year’s Walleye Kayak Social. The event is quickly becoming a cherished tradition for the kayak fishing community in Oregon, and Mack’s Lure’s continued involvement is sure to make future gatherings even more exciting.

Jim Davis summed up the experience: “The kayak fishing community keeps growing, and the Walleye Kayak Social is a perfect example of that. It’s not just about fishing—it’s about building something bigger, a community of anglers who support and learn from each other.”

Whether you're casting with Mack’s premium lures or simply soaking in the sights of the Pacific Northwest, the Walleye Kayak Social is an experience you won't want to miss in 2025.
