Vertical jigging on a slow drift is about as close to the perfect presentation that one can achieve in sport fishing because of absolute control of lure placement and its resultant downward flutter. The downward flutter is the most effective lure action that causes a fish to strike.

Many of you have been asking what we have been using to successfully target kokanee through the ice fishing in British Columbia, so today I’m going to take you through the dodgers and lures we are using to get on these fish.

The two dodgers I utilize for Lake Michigan trout and salmon are the Double D Dodger 7.6" Double D Dodger 7.6” and the other dodger, the Sling Blade 9” — both of which have a time and place. However, each is a very good option for both trout and salmon on the Great Lakes.
