Default kansas report 6/23/09

Guided the 19th,20th and 22nd, ended up catching about 20 walleyes a day and averaged 4 keepers (over 18) each day. We had some nice fish though, 19 - 26 inches. Fish are moving deeper as I suspected from my first report last week. Most fish came in 18 -25 fow. The fish have changed from the 1.5 chart/sparkle that tore them up for the last several weeks to small siver blades now taking the bulk of fish. We are now getting our first batch of shad, I saw some the other day and they are the size of a dime.

No doubt, the walleyes are keying on them now, so I switched to using the mini wedding ring spinners with either green or red beads with the silver scale smile blade. So if any of you guys are out there fishing reservoirs that may have a fresh batch of new tiny shad out there, try those mini wedding rings, they have been working great. I have been tipping them with about a 2 inch piece of crawler, that's what the 26 incher came off of the other day.

Thanks for the report Chad. Are you using the .08 smilies? Keep them coming!

I have used some of the .08 blades but the 1.1 siver scale or sparkle seemed to be working better right now.
